Although I did become more flexible and strong, yoga transformed my life in a much deeper way and changed my life forever. Yoga is so much more than a physical pose and can truly enhance so many areas of your life. I am so excited to share with you below 5 ways yoga will transform your life:
‘Me time’ is essential at keeping life balanced and vital to our wellbeing. Discover how to make more ‘me time’ below.
1. Alarm Clock
Not only does waking up early improve your productivity, sleep and mental health, there are less distractions in the early hours of the day. This is the perfect time to grab a cup of coffee/ tea, watch your favorite morning show and let yourself settle into your own energy for that much needed ‘me time’ before the rest of the family wakes up. Ah, sounds perfect to us! Try it, you’ll love it!
2. Go Outdoors
Escape and go outside for a 15- 20 min walk every day. Go during your lunch break at work, in the morning, or when the kids are down for the evening. There is no greater feeling than feeling energized, positive and motivated! Walking will do just that and more – finding the time to do this for yourself will give that perfect balance of alone time your soul is craving.
3. Pamper time!
Treating yourself is healthy not frivolous. Do it in the comfort of your own home or just make your way to a nail salon. Either way, pamper yourself AT LEAST once every two weeks. The trick is to actually block that time out for yourself and stick to it. Pampering yourself brings so many physical and mental benefits like increased happiness, less stress and an improved appearance. Get your diary out and book that me time in, to give yourself the #Rawlovin you deserve.
4. Journaling Time!
There’s a strong connecting between happiness and mindfulness. Journaling brings you into that state of mindfulness. Doing this will help past frustrations and future anxieties lose their edge in the present moment. Spending time alone to journal is another great way to connect with your true self and reduce the stress in your life.
5. Disconnect to Reconnect
Alone at last! Alone in your thoughts with no distractions. Did you know that reading a book expands your vocabulary, reduces your stress and improves your memory? A great way to enjoy ‘me time’ is to actually read a book and get so lost in it, that you have no other thoughts! Set a time aside everyday, even it’s only 30 mins, and read! Turn off your social medias and all technology around you to really switch off!
It’s time to get #Rawlovin Sugar!
With summer slowly approaching, many of us feel a fresh sense of hope.
A new day is on the horizon, and our bodies and minds are telling us that it’s time for improvement.
Instead of focusing on a specific area of physical refinement for
tomorrow – like signing up for a gym membership, for example – why not start living your happiest, healthiest life… today?
There are many things you can control in your everyday life to ensure you’re living at your best. If you make a habit of the following 5 things every day, we guarantee you’ll feel better because it.
Start Your Day By Setting Intentions
Setting positive intentions is a wonderful thing. By understanding what you truly desire and how you desire to feel, your everyday life your life will glow with a brand new sense of being.
Setting intentions helps you get your power back. Once you’re
clear on how you want to feel and what you want to achieve, you can make clearer and more assured day-to-day decisions that will lead you to the life you truly want to be living.
Make Gratitude Your Attitude
It’s easy to get caught up in a whirlwind of everyday stress, but when we do, we
forget to stop and smell the roses. When we get so busy chasing what we want, we don’t often appreciate what we already have.
Practicing gratitude, or thankfulness as a daily
ritual can greatly improve our mental and emotional well-being. In fact, studies have shown that gratitude can increase happiness levels by 25%. People who make gratitude a priority tend to have enhanced levels of
creativity and power, are more resilient, have stronger immune
systems, and even have stronger social relationships with other people.
Find the Exercise You Love
Our bodies are designed to move. Your body is an extraordinary thing – capable of doing so much if you treat it kindly. Moving your body will not only benefit your physical health, but your mind too. Exercising releases endorphins, the feel good hormone your body produces to create a positive boost in your mood.
We know gyms aren’t for everyone, and you can’t force a habit you
simply don’t enjoy. Experiment with a few types of activities to find the one you truly
love – and when you do, it won’t feel like a chore, but rather a daily hobby that you look forward to. Perhaps you’ll enjoy yoga, or maybe nature walks. Maybe your thing is competitive
sports, like soccer, or could it be something water-based, like swimming or surfing?
No matter what it is, you’ll find it. Once you do, it won’t even feel like exercise!
Repeat Positive Affirmations
What you think, you become. Choosing positive patterns of thought and repeating positive affirmations will lead you feel more optimistic and happy. In Western society, we’re all programmed from birth with scripts that play through our minds all day long. Unbelievably, more
than 75% of those scripts are skewed toward negative thinking.
The power of your mind is incredible, and you can equip yourself with the tools that change the way you talk to yourself. By practicing daily affirmations that reassure and inspire, you’re setting yourself up for more self-love, self-acceptance, and self- belief. What could possibly be better than that?
Practice Inner Peace
A powerful way to find greater contentment is to practice inner peace.
Giving your mind time to stop and take a mental deep breath allows more clarity and harmony.
Whether you choose to meditate, pray, practice yoga, or even listen to music, giving your mind a few moments of peace will help you center yourself and really feel the blessings you already have in your life.
Don’t you just LOVE feeling stressed? Said literally no one ever. Unfortunately, like traffic jams in LA, stress is kinda an unavoidable part of life. It’s part of the human condition to feel a bit anxious when we feel overwhelmed – or when we bite off a little more than we can chew.
While a bit of stress from time to time can be a positive thing to motivate you, too much is hardly beneficial. It can have a negative impact on our emotional, physical and mental wellbeing – and leave you feeling anxious and exhausted.
That’s why, particularly as a busy person, you need to understand what techniques and activities will help you alleviate stress and shoot tension right in the foot.
Here are 5 helpful stress-busting activities every busy person needs to try.
It may seem obvious, but it’s surprising how many people miss out on the benefits of meditation. The mental silence of meditation works very effectively to counter stress (especially of a work-related nature). If you find yourself struggling to get ‘in the zone’, then practicing some easy breathing exercises will work a treat too. Take repetitive deep breaths when you’re feeling particularly overwhelmed – it will reduce cortisol levels, which are related directly to stress and anxiety.
2. Hit the beach (or the pool)
Water – nature’s ultimate healer. A Swedish study on stress management found that the simple act of floating in water prompts the body’s relaxation response, which in turn decreases the levels of the stress hormone. And it really works. Approximate 80% of people who participated on the study said being in water helped them feel calmer a d less anxious.
3. Snack on something healthy
When we’re feeling stressed, we tend to turn to comfort foods to give us a momentary satisfaction. Ice cream. Chocolate. French fries. You name it – if we’re feeling overwhelmed, we’re eating it. We overeat and binge on foods that just end up making us feel worse – not better. The key is convenience. Always keep some healthy snacks handy – so when you’re feeling under pressure, you can reach for the peanuts, dark chocolate, or carrot sticks and hummus instead. This will leave you feeling more positive and energetic – while also not feeling deprived.
4. Light up a scent
Aromatherapy has been proven to be a very effective stress reducer. Scents such as lavender have a particularly positive effect on our senses, and leave us feeling soothed. Make it a habit to light up a calming aroma before bed – it will help you sleep and keep your head clear.
5. Yoga asanas
Relieve the tension that builds up in your back with some simple yoga asanas. If you’re time poor, it can be as easy as doing a quick spinal twist in your pajamas. Simply sit on your bed with your legs crossed and place your right hand down behind you, while your left hand sits on your right knee. Sit up as straight as you can and begin to twist around to your right hand. Repeat the same on the opposite side.

A little solitude goes a long way.
If you’re an introvert, you’ll need your dedicated “me” time. To avoid running on empty, start your day with a morning ritual that involves no other people… just you. This way, you’ll be able to mentally prepare yourself for the socializing and stimulation the day will bring.
Balance out the big social gathering with more intimate ones.
In a sea of big, boisterous parties – it can be difficult to have meaningful conversations and bond with people you care about. Plan smaller, more intimate events with your partner, your two best friends, your mother, or your favorite colleague. These sort of parties leave you feeling energized rather than drained.
Make time to move your body.
It’s so easy to forget exercise over the holidays. But with its incredible ability to reduces stress, exercise is one of the most important things to keep up as part of your holiday routine. And, it doesn’t have to be a killer gym workout or hours on the treadmill – a nice hike, a spot of backyard yoga, or just a long walk will do the trick.
Get outside among nature.
Your body will not enjoy being cooped up inside all winter long. Spending time outside will help clear your mind, assist with prioritizing, and give your body a good dose of Vitamin D – which is super useful for dealing with stress.
Put work on pause… completely and entirely.
It can be tough to switch off. It really can. But if you have a job that allows you to take some time off, then actually take that time OFF. That means no work emails. No research. No talking to clients. Just chill and enjoy yourself so that you can go into the New Year well rested and ready to take on the world!
The word ‘detox’ gets thrown around an awful lot lately. From detox teas to detox day-spas – it seems to have become a commonly-used buzzword that advertisers wield to get their products out the door. But ‘detox’ does not have to be a dirty word.
In fact, a detox can be incredibly beneficial to your health (and, in turn, your skin!). It’s a science. The science of how our bodies get rid of unnecessary waste – because if waste builds up, bad things happen.

Or, if you detox really well, you can have it looking better, fresher, and more beautiful than ever.
But how do you know if your skin is in desperate need of a detox, you ask? Well, every now again, your body tries to talk to you. It tries to send you signals in the hopes that you’ll respond and take action. These signals are often what we like to refer to as symptoms. That means that right now, you body could be screaming at you with a loud and clear “DETOX ME! PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF AVOCADO ON TOAST, DETOX ME!” while you nonchalantly strut around without a care in the world, twiddling your thumbs and watching re-runs of Gilmore Girls. But, fret not, that’s why we’re here!
So, without further ado, here are 10 signs your skin may be in need of a detox. If you’ve noticed any of the below recurring in the past 3 months, you’ll need to whip out the water, get onto a liver-friendly diet, and treat your skincare routine with respect.

10. Sinus congestion
If you listen to your body, and treat it as well as you would a brand new pair of white sneakers, you’ll be absolutely fine.
Ah, breakfast. The most controversial meal of the day. Some argue it’s the most important, others will tell you to skip it altogether. The truth is, however, that it’s completely up to you and your body.
Some people feel nauseated after breakfast, while others use it as fuel for the day. Some have it first thing in the morning, while others wait until 10 or even 11am for their first feed. Then there are the people who LIVE for breakfast. The ones who think of sleep simply as a time machine to their scrambled eggs and avocado on toast. The ones who are first in line at the local café on a Saturday morning. The ones who think a world without breakfast is a world not worth living in.
So if you love breakie, we’ve compiled a list of the 7 healthiest you can eat to keep you running at your most efficient for the rest of the day. Because, let’s face it, a bagel and orange juice just won’t cut it.
1. Avocado on toast
Not all carbs are bad. Especially if they’re topped with a silky green slices of avocado. Opt for a rye, brown or multi-grain bread rather than white, and be generous with your avo. The healthy fats and fiber in this meal mean you’ll be full for a while, but your blood sugar levels won’t be compromised. Add some lime juice for extra flavor, and tahini or black sesame seeds for a little more protein.
Whether you like ‘em boiled, poached, scrambled or baked – eggs are breakfast gold. Loaded with protein (6 grams a piece, to be exact, eggs are easy enough to prepare that even the most amateur of cooks can perfect them. Pair them leafy greens, tomatoes and mushrooms, or a slice of whole grain bread. And don’t skip the yolk – it’s full of good fats, vitamins and minerals like Vitamin D, magnesium, and calcium.
3. Homemade smoothie
A morning smoothie is an awesome way to get your daily fruit and veggies in before the day even begins. To make a well-balanced smoothie, try whizzing together some leafy greens like spinach or kale, a tablespoon of coconut oil, a nut butter for some healthy fat, and a little bit of fruit like kiwi, banana or blueberries. Add some non-dairy milk (almond works a treat!) and there you have it – a quick, easy and filling smoothie. Add a handful of organic oats for extra satisfaction.
4. Bircher muesli
This one’s super easy because you can just throw all the ingredients together the night before, and it’ll be ready and waiting for you in the morning. Use rolled oats, top with your favorite fruits, some non-fat plain Greek yogurt, and a drizzle or organic honey for a scrumptious and sweet breakfast that’ll keep your batteries charged for hours.
5. Chia pudding
Chia seeds are a superfood for a reason – they’re super nutritious, and super high in fiber. So high, in fact, that just one ounce equals an impressive 11 grams of finer per serving. They’re also high in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids – perfect for vegans. To make chia pudding, mix half a cup of berries, some coconut flakes, and a tablespoon of organic honey and allow it to set in the fridge overnight. The next morning you’ll have a bright bowl of goodness waiting for you.
Love cereal? Oatmeal is the healthy alternative. Made from ground oats, it contains a unique fiber called beta-glucan which helps to reduce cholesterol and keep you fuller, longer. It’s also packed with antioxidants, and has even proven to have anti-inflammatory effects!
7. Mexican breakfast bowl
This is one where yumminess is definitely on the menu. Think sliced, hard-boiled eggs, black or kidney beans, cubed tofu, lemon juice, tomato, red onion, jalapeños and avocado. It’s a scrumptious medley of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. Delicious.
