It’s such an exciting time when you find out you’ve got a little one coming soon. Whether it’s your first child or your 3rd, it’s important to understand what ingredients are in your beauty products to keep your baby safe.
We are passionate about living a clean and healthy lifestyle and we want the same for you Sugar moms! Here are 5 top cosmetic and skin care ingredients that you need to avoid throughout your pregnancy!
#1 – Toluene
Toluene is an ingredient that is commonly found in nail polish. This doesn’t mean you can’t get your nails done, it just means you need to be mindful of how harmful these toxins are during your pregnancy. So be sure to look for nail polishes that are toluene, phthalate and formaldehyde free.
#2 – Dihydroxyacetone
Who doesn’t want to look like a bronzed goddess? We all do, but some ingredients in self-tanners especially the spray kind can be really unhealthy when inhaled.
You will find dihydroxyacetone listed as “DHA” on most labels. It’s best to avoid the self-tanner all together and embrace your natural skin colour while pregnant.
#3 – Ammonia
Ammonia is most commonly found in hair dyes & is incredibly harmful to the lungs and can make your skin irritable. Choose an ammonia-free hair dye for touch ups but, it’s best to just steer clear of any hair dyes during your pregnancy.
#4 – Benzoyl Peroxide
You’re growing a beautiful baby inside, so your body is going through hormonal changes. During pregnancy, it’s normal to develop hormonal acne. Benzoyl peroxide is a power acne remedy but it’s way too powerful for the baby and it’s
usually found in over the counter acne treatments. Avoid this and speak to your ob/gyn or dermatologist for the safest and best way of treating your hormonal acne.
#5 – BPA
BPA is an ingredient that is NOT found in any skincare or cosmetics, but it is found in plastic, which you most likely use. BPA can unsettle the endocrine system and potentially lead to serious health issues.

The Only 5 Products you Need to Glow on Valentine’s Day
It’s February, and Valentine’s Day is on everyone’s radar.
It’s the one day a year that’s completely dedicated to showing love – be that to ourselves, or to an SO.
It’s Valentine’s Day season, and love is the word on everyone’s lips.
We’re big believers in the notion that love should be observed in all forms. It doesn’t matter if you’re single, fresh off the market, or completely spoken for – the kind of love we can all celebrate and nurture this Valentine’s season, is with the person we spend most of our time with: ourselves.
Picture this: you’re strolling the aisles at Target, picking up more than you probably should and putting it into your basket, when you hit the personal care section. You know you need a new body wash, but the shelves are full – there’s just so many choices, and you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by all the options.
If there’s anything we’ve learned on our journey so far, it’s that life is all about balance.
When it comes to your complexion, there’s so much conflicting information about what really works. Some say there’s nothing better than healing on the inside to beautify the outside, while others swear by nourishing their skin from the outside in.
The bathroom is meant to be a ‘sanctuary’ – a place to escape the outside chaos, rejuvenate, and restore mind, body and soul. Truth be told, more often than not it can be the last place you’d want to hang out, thanks to an array of overflowing shelves, mismatched towels and out-of-date toiletries. Sound familiar? If so, we’ve got the lowdown to get your bathroom back on track, looking spick, span and stylish in next-to-no time.
If you guys haven’t noticed 2018 was all about selfcare for me. Taking care of my body physically and mentally was the a big factor this year and although I may have shared my skincare products this year, that doesn’t mean I wasn’t taking care of my whole body.
