After Sun Care

Tips on how to care for your skin after a day out in the sun.

Regardless of what you are doing, whether it is lounging on the beach, swimming at the pool, or taking a stroll at the park, sun exposure will likely happen, and we've always been told "wear SPF!". Yes, we now know what to do before going out into the sun, but we're rarely educated about what to do after. Now don't get us wrong, SPF is still an will always be important and should be apart of your regular routine, but there are also steps afterwards to continue keeping your skin protected and healthy.

First things first, after a day out in the sun, come home and wash off. A cool shower can help your skin cool off and possibly even combat and relieve inflammation.

Next, moisturize! Using a body butter or lotion that has very hydrating qualities, replenish your skin. Give it that cold drink of moisture it is probably craving after a day out in the heat. Bonus ingredients such as Aloe Vera or Hyaluronic Acid in your moisturizing products can really help your skin relax and revive from the sun's rays.

Lastly, drink your water. Hydration for outside and inside the body is important. If you unfortunately get a sunburn, hydrating has been said to help the process along. Sunburns can draw fluid to the skin's surface and away from the body, therefore you will want to rehydrate by drinking fluids. After taking care of your skin, be sure to take care of your body and drink your liquids!
