Self love is a crucial part of the puzzle when it comes to our own wellbeing and happiness. We spend plenty of time and effort focusing on those around us, but often forget to look within ourselves. At Raw Sugar we believe that everyone should love the skin they’re in! To get started, we’ve put together some simple steps on how to practice self love
1. Take Time for Yourself
An oldie, but a goodie! We hear about it all the time…on tv commercials, social media and generally in pop culture, but why exactly is it important? Unwinding and taking a step back from our everyday activities is important in building self awareness and re-evaluating our personal goals. Learn to spend time alone and you will learn to love yourself!
2. Become Mindful
Take a minute and try to be mindful of those around you, especially those that you care about. Notice changes, whether it’s their difficulties or achievements, it’s important to them and should be important to you. Being mindful of those around us allows us to build nurturing relationships within our support network. Be open, show your support and put yourself in the same situation as others, it will help you love those around you…including yourself!
3. Stay Positive
Look on the bright side! It may be hard to find the motivation to stay positive, but being hard on yourself is not the answer. Think about how would you support others, and give yourself the same advice. As the saying goes ‘We are our own toughest critics’ – cut yourself some slack. Forgive yourself, and move on – focus on the positives!
4. Reward Yourself
When was the last time you rewarded yourself? Whether it’s a shopping trip, a slice of your favorite cake, or simply taking the afternoon off from your household duties, rewarding yourself is great way to thank yourself! A little treat or reward will leave you with feelings of happiness and achievement, which will help you move forward. Treat yourself, you deserve it!
5. Encourage Yourself
We can all use a little helping hand from time to time. Why wait for external help? A little positive reaffirmation can go a long way. Take 5 minutes to reassess your goals. Recognize achievements and allow yourself to identify your downfalls. A little note to yourself is all you need for encouragement. If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again!
